Meeting was called to order at 19:44 with 26 present.

Ronnie welcomed all to the SFFMA meeting. The meeting was being broadcast live on the air tonight from the EOC. There is no one here for testing tonight.

The microphone was then passed around the room and everyone stated their name and call sign.

Ronnie welcomed everyone again.

Carl spoke that we are now in hurricane season and starting tonight we will be issuing new ID's. These ID's are to be renewed every 2 years and you need to turn in your old ones. Also a tour of the radio room will be happening later tonight. The radio room was used in the walk-a-thon and the bike-a-thon. From now on you will need an ID card to get in. Exchange it for a card (there will be a certain number assigned for the radio room) that will allow you access to the radio room, bathrooms, etc. HF antennas and other antennas are going up this week.

Repeater update:

Ray spoke about the 146.760. It is up and working well, but not enough usage. It does get some noise form time to time. Please use it. If you have any issues, let Ray know.

Robert spoke about the 224.200. He needs to get access to the building. It is working but it has drifted off frequency. He needs to get the with gatekeeper to get it fixed.

John was not here tonight so Ray spoke about the 147.000. It is up and running. There is a small problem with the antenna. If you have any data or info when it happens, et the info to John via email.

No other repeater trustees were present.

Old Business:

Last month's minutes were posted on the web. A motion to accept the minutes was made by Caesar and seconded by Eddie.

Last month Freddy from the American Red Cross was our guest speaker and spoke about Hurricane Preparation. Great presentation.

Ronnie reminded everyone that dues are officially due Jan 1, 2005. Give your dues to Ronnie or Joanne tonight or send them to the PO Box. Dues are $30.00 per year and $5.00 for each family member.

Joanne spoke about the CERT exercise last month. She was made incident commander of the exercise. It was great.

Philipe spoke about the Skywarn classes that were given at the Coral Gables Police Department on May 21. Another class for both basic and advanced will be given at the Coral Gables Police Department on July 16. See Philipe for more info.

Ronnie tried to get someone here from the Hurricane Center as a guest speaker tonight, but they had prior commitments. He will see if he can get someone for the next meeting. It is hard to get someone because of hurricane season.

Robert spoke with John Clark with the City of Miami CERT. He is now with the City of West Palm Beach CERT and is pushing ham radio. If someone gets a ham license, they get a hand held radio. He needs teachers. If you are interested, see Robert.

New Business:

Ronnie then announced that June 25 and 26 is field day. We are having a joint field day with the American Radio Club. Jose was here from the American Radio Club. He announced that anyone interested in participating needs to meet this Wednesday, June 16, 2005, at 8PM at West Miami City Hall, 901 SW 62 Avenue, to discuss the frequencies that we will be using, scheduling, food, etc. Jose also advised that there will be a special call sign for field day. Ronnie will post it on the website.

Robert, the chairman for next year's Hamboree advised that there is nothing new. He will bring the Hamboree cards to the next meeting to start passing them out.

Ray asked if anyone remembered 2 hams from the past, Marco and Raul. That Raul was in today's Herald in the "Tropical Life Section". It is an article about Raul's life and music.

Frank is going to show a video today on "Secret Life of Radio" while we are making ID's. It was a show from the 80's about radio.  Click the link to watch the video.

While waiting for Frank to set-up the video, Ray asked if anyone saw the news today about the plane crash. He said to ask yourself, how are you prepared. There are a lot of older planes flying out of Opa Locka, Tamiami and MIA. He has a service called Crisis Alert Net. If there is breaking news, they will notify you. If something happens and you find out about it, get on the repeater and let people know.

Ray also said that Channel 2 (PBS) has a lot of great science shows. He also spoke about HDTV and digital.

Ronnie opened the floor for any questions or concerns. There were none.

With no other new business, Frank showed the video. ID's were being made.

With no other business, Ronnie announced that refreshments were in the cafeteria. He thanked everyone for coming.

The meeting was adjourned at 19:45.
